HAIBOXING 2196 1/18 Brushed RC Drift Car with 2 Batteries

I have both of these models (2196 and 2197). Apart from the bodies, these are identical mechanically. The truck looks closer to 1/18 scale and the car looks slightly larger and might be closer to 1/16. They're very nice toy-grade RC, borders on hobby-grade in many ways. Perfect for indoor on the hardwood/tile or in the garage. The tires are a hard plastic, but do surprisingly well on carpet. Other drifters I've had couldn't handle anything but hard surfaces. It has some kind of cross pattern (see picture) Wheel "nuts" are basically just a coarse-threaded screw that's threaded into plastic.

ou can always count on HBX to make a great budget rc! The new 2197 and 2196 drifters are just that. These cars are great! I have both versions. Other than the body and the rear body mounts they are exactly them same. These cars only come with drift tires, so they’re purely for drifting. I was really hoping for an extra set of rubber street tires in the box. I’ll have to find a set that fits. I also haven’t seen replacement parts on any of the sites I buy my HBX parts from. Maybe because it’s a new model? hopefully hbx will release the parts soon, They always do. This car can make even the most novice drifter feel like a pro thanks to the gyro and the great overall set up of the chasis. The gyro isn’t adjustable, and I don’t think it needs to be. HBX must’ve spent a lot of time fine tuning that gyro, it’s set perfectly for this car. The transmitter is a standard hbx I’ve seen on some of their other models. It’s a pretty good controller. It has all the necessary adjustments and low speed for beginners. It’s works well and comfortable to hold for adults and kids. You get 2 850mah lipos. Mine were perfectly balanced out of the box. It has a 370 brushed motor with .6mod 16t pinion, and the option to run a 18t pinion by flipping the motor mount. The drift tires feel like a semi solid hard rubber compound. The esc is a 2in1 with gyro (not sure how many amps). It has 3 wire servo, metal center drive shaft, ball bearings all around, and the chassis, suspension and drivetrain are made of HBX’s almost indestructible plastic. It has friction shocks but they do just fine and don’t affect the handling of this car. It also has solid front and rear gears. It’s fast for its size and it drifts like a champ thanks to the peppy 370 motor and perfectly tuned gyro. I usually convert all my rc cars and trucks to brushless, but I don’t feel the need with this one. It’s a blast just the way it comes. Perfect for kids and adults. You don’t need much space to have fun with it. Just a smooth paved driveway and you’re off.
